Career Planning for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders

October 21-22, 2009, Seattle, WA.

This high caliber career planning is the key to a successful future with positive long-term outcomes and is essential for: Career counselors, job developers/job coaches, rehab administrators, vocational coordinators, special education administrators, teachers, teacher assistants, case managers, therapists, students, parents, caregivers, and young adults with ASDs (16+).

Critical Strategies in Supporting Individuals

with Autism

 

 


Please join us for a hands-on, in-depth, participatory workshop to learn and implement evidence based  strategies utilized in successfully supporting individuals with autism.  The workshop is for school staff, direct service staff, parents, professional staff  and other interested persons. The techniques presented are inclusive across all environmental domains.

Training will be presented by:

 Monica Meyer

 

Training Components of the Workshop will include:

· Overview of the Characteristics of Autism

· Functional Behavioral Assessments/Positive Behavior Supports

· Components of Structured Teaching

· Social Stories

· Sensory Inventory

· Individual support strategy development and support materials

· Teaching and facilitation of support strategies

· Planned activities utilizing developed materials and implementing with individuals with autism

 

Attendance at all five classes is ideal as each class will  build on the presented information from the previous evenings.

 

The workshop is scheduled for five evenings from 4 pm to 8 pm and is scheduled on October 27, November 3, November 5, November 10, and November 12, 2009. The workshops will held at the Educational Services District (ESD), 105 National Avenue, Bremerton, WA 98312, Rooms A/B.
