KITSAP COUNTY PARENT COALITION NEWS

CARE Clinic—University of Washington

It is with great delight and enthusiasm that we are writing to inform you that the CARE Clinic (Clinical services, Assessment, Research, & professional Education) at the University of Washington, College of Education opened this month.

The clinic, under the direction of Dr. Julie Osterling, serves individuals from infancy through adulthood who have neurodevelopmental disorders (including autism spectrum, ADHD, learning disability, and developmental delays) and their families.

The CARE Clinic is dedicated to increasing the capacity and excellence of services provided to individuals and families affected by neuro-developmental disorders through education, intervention, support, research and training.

This clinic is part of the UW College of Education Haring Center, which is under the direction of Dr. Ilene Schwartz.

In addition to services provided by licensed psychologists, the new clinic will provide intensive training to psychology, education, and other specialists so that they can provide effective individual and family centered services.

Because highly specialized trainees are providing services with Dr. Osterling, we can offer effective services at a lower cost to families.

We provide services to individuals with a neurodevelopmental disorder at any age or level of functioning and/or to their family member.

These services include:

Individual therapy with a focus on increasing the person’s emotional adjustment, self-concept, and empowerment at any level of functioning and increase positive functioning in social, adaptive, and emotional domains.

Couples therapy for parents or for couples where one individual in the relationship has a neurodevelopmental difference.

Parent Coaching to help parents decrease family stress and increase their child’s ability to reach their potential in social, emotional, and adaptive areas.

Family therapy to promote well being for all family members and to increase positive functioning for the affected member.

Skills Groups targeting skills such as social, emotional & executive functioning skills Group Therapy to increase clients’ empowerment by understanding their strengths and challenges, create and expand relationships & connections, cultivate positive self image.

In-Home Support to help families create predictability and stability in their homes for all family members.

Diagnostic and/or Educational Assessment

Development of Educational or Treatment Plan.

We would very much appreciate referrals for clients who meet any of these characteristics.

We appreciate you taking the time to read through this.

If you have any questions, we would be happy to hear from you.
